Paula Miuh

Paula Miuh was born in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, on January 29, 2002. Coming from a family of journalists, Miuh naturally gravitated towards storytelling, a trait she channels through her photography. Influenced by her passion for cinema and the works of photographers like Vivian Maier and Henri Cartier-Bresson, Miuh’s perspective on the world was profoundly shaped during her adolescence.

For Best of Graduates 2024, Paula presents her project Harmațca. Through her black and white medium format film photography, Miuh captures the resilience and hopefulness of childhood in a Moldovan village. Her images document a group of children playing amidst the remnants of the Soviet era, offering a visual narrative that intertwines nostalgia, connection, and the essence of homeland. The project was featured at Unseen Amsterdam in 2023 and the Women Street Photographers exhibition in New York City, underscoring her emerging presence in the photography world. Miuh remains open to new documentary projects, continuing to explore and capture the stories of those who fascinate her.
