13.10.24

We’re excited to share that Mounir Eddib, who was part of Best of Graduates 2024 and won the RM Public Choice Award, has recently been awarded the prestigious Buning Brongers Prize 2024 at Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam. His work, rooted in the mining history of Genk, Belgium, explores themes of freedom and resilience through materials like tar, lead, and Winterslagse brik.

In a recent interview with Joost Jungsik Vormeer, Mounir discusses how his art connects with his personal and regional history, and how nature reclaims the industrial landscape. His use of these materials, combined with a deep sense of heritage, tells a compelling story of identity and liberation.
