Andrea Asili

Andrea Asili was born in Sardinia, a beautiful, slow island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. As many others, he decided to leave his hometown and look for different experiences and widen his perspectives, often changing cities, companies and jobs. His background lies on a mix of rural culture, catholicism, politics and provincial city life. He owes his first interest in visual languages to his father, a graphic designer. The strict aesthetics of graphic design are still visible in Asili’s own practice, although diluted in time through influences from comics, fine art, pop culture, traditional symbols and anything else he likes. The subject matter of his work is autobiographical: it follows the experiences he collected during the years and will continue to do so as long as he will find something worth talking about.
